In considering screwpiles as a piling or anchoring alternative for your next project, it is important to understand that the load-carrying capacity of any pile or ground anchor relies primarily on five main factors:
 

  • Ground conditions and profile
  • Design and structural elements of the pile (e.g. helix diameter and pitch) which will also depend on soil type and site conditions
  • Site corrosion classification
  • Structural design life for the building or structure
  • Pile to sub-structure foundation system interface method
     

These five issues are critical in understanding how a piling or anchoring system will perform andgovern the systems design. For this reason correct engineering design is critical.
