Swimming Pool and Cellar Excavations

Pools and cellars are often installed close to existing structures and any deep excavation will affect the existing buildings footings as the foundations are likely to be shallow.  The foundations will need to be extended deeper so that any undermining does not affect the structrual intengity of the surrounding building or structures.  

The two most effective methods of deepening existing foundations are by using screwpiling or microfine cement grout injection.  Where access is limited and restricts machinery a Microfine grout solution is likely to be the best solution.  Each method has its own unique advantages however both have numerous advantages over all other methods:

  1. No vibration
  2. No undermining or reaming
  3. Quick
  4. Cost effective
  5. None visable

Either way you will need a structural engineer to provide an engineered certified design.  If you are engaging a reputable pool company it is likely they will be intouch with us anyway about the installation is it requires piling or grout works. 

Some clients elect to build a new house with the intention of installing a swimming pool at a later stage.  To facilitate ease of latter pool construction clients can pile support the foundations near the proposed pool excavation.
