The best method of soil stabilisation will depend on factors such as type of soil, water table, access and surcharge loads. Soil stabilisation is defined as where the soil is suffering from consolidation or where ground movement is evident or likely due to environmental conditions, construction and excavation works.
Whilst those living in areas of sand conditions are generally fortunate enough not to encounter soil stabilisation issues, movement issues still arise, sometimes requiring urgent remedial attention. For those living in areas of clays and silts, the problem tends to be more complex and frequent.
As a guide, compatible sandy sites tend to be best suited towards a Microfine cement grout injection solution, as well as piled barriers and piers. Clay sites are limited to piled barrier and pier solutions.
The requirement for building to be underpinned is common on sites requiring soil stabilisation. For information on underpinning click here.
