Applications

Sewer Screwpiles

As building sites become smaller and the infrastructure for underground services becomes more congested, the need for protection of these services for future maintenance and upgrade purposes increases.  Structures with close proximity to these services require special consideration.  During the building design, surveying and licencing phase, identification and consideration must be given to the exact location of the proposed building and the services. As defined by the relevant Services Authority, any structure, or part thereof, that extends into a designated easement's "zone of influence" must have its foundation system transfer surcharge loads to below a line of influence, ensuring any future line maintenance work will not damage the existing structure and that the surcharge loads do not compromise their asset.

Screwpile Australia supplies and installs a range of "off the shelf" sewer screwpiles for domestic housing applications in accordance with a standardised  foundation design concept that has been developed in conjunction with the engineering fraternity and construction industry. The interface between the screwpile and the concrete footing  has also been standardised with specified shear bar sizes to transfer design loads.

The same range of screwpiles can be used in situations where easements exist due to exposed drains and sumps.  In fact, anywhere a structure's surcharge load is within the zone of influence or where embankments or underground wells exist.  This enables us to respond quickly to a builder's needs.  Along with Screwpile Australia's dedicated  automated scheduling department, piling of these projects can be as simple as making one phone call.   For larger structures, purpose-designed sewer screwpiles are designed and manufactured.

As with all our screwpiles, design life is in accordance with the building's design life, so you can be assured that  our screwpiles will last as long as your building.  Check with your design engineer as to the design life of your building. For designers and engineers registered with our site, simply log in and download CAD dwg. and dxf. files for use in your drawings.  You can also do an online calculation to determine the minimum length of pile required. For builders registered with our site, you can log in and do the same and you will automatically receive budget costings. Please note that all online design and pricing information obtained online will require confirmation from our office prior to final design and formal quotation.
