WA NEWSPAPER HOUSE REDEVELOPMENT NEW LIFT SHAFT & STAIRWELL

In 2010 the old WA Newspaper House on St. Georges Tce. Perth City underwent major redevelopment.  A new external lift and stair well needed to be constructed at the end of adjoining laneway.  Compression and tension piling needed to be designed to support loads up to 900kN for the new structure. Difficult ground conditions of perched watertables over variable clays and sands required deep piles.

Limited site access via a laneway, a complex array of above and below ground services and a restricted work platform meant conventional piling would be difficult if not impossible.  We were asked to come up with a cost and time effective workable solution that did not impede other surrounding construction works.

EXISTING PLASTICS MANUFACTURING PLANT FOUNDATION UPGRADES

An existing factory operating 24hrs 7 days per week required foundation upgrades.  Certain design & works criteria included limited headroom, surrounding infrastructure, non obstructive works, dust control and the need for a speedy solution all meant that screwpiles were the best solution.

A total of 38 x 150kN x 25m deep screwpiles were successfully installed non stop over a 96hr period without plastic molding production disruption.

MINING CAMPS - CYCLONIC TIE DOWN GROUND ANCHOR FOUNDATIONS
