The ever increasing urbanisation of our communities means land that was previously considered not suitable for construction, ie; ex-rubbish tips, market gardens in peat areas, old creek beds and the like, are now valuable pieces of land and the increase in building costs due to the need for sometimes deep piling can be justified.  In addition, the introduction of screwpiles to the construction industry, assisted in keeping piling costs down.
