Commonly known in the industry as "Donga's", modular transportable buildings used in mine camp accommodation villages is a growing sector of the building & construction industry. From a single floor 14.4m building through to complex buildings (grouped floors) the traditional Donga has undergone a makeover as nowdays they tend to have more creature comforts than in the in the past.
For over 14 years we have been designing, manufacturing, installing and certifying specialised foundation and tie down ground anchoring solutions for accommodation camps on mine sites and holiday villages throughout Australia.
Our patent pending QWIK-Connect transportable building foundation and tie-down ground anchor technology is the world fastest method of installing foundations and securing buildings to the ground. For example, a typical 12m x 3m or 14.4m x 3.3m modular accommodation unit in a remote location, even in the worst cyclonic conditions of Region D, can have our QWIK-Connect screwpile foundations installed, the building positioned on top and our QWIK-Connect or Wellard Hammer-Loc interface brackets fitted securing the building to the foundation in less than 1 hour.
Sites that consist of: clays (cohesive soils), sands (non-cohesive) or cobble and gravel based soils are ideal for screw pile tie down bround anchors. High tension loads can be developed in very shallow ground and capacities performance is confirmed via load testing regimes.
Whilst site that consist of rock rubble and laterites are suitable for screw piles as long as there is a greater percentage of soil versus rock and rock cobble is kept to below 50-100mm in size. These sites can present installation tollerance challenges but these are overcome through the option of using either our QWIK-Connect or Wellard Hammer-Loc connection interface. For more permanent structures there is the option of casting the head of the screwpile into a concrete footing or cap which is used as the building interface.
STG offers a turnkey approach to transportable building tie-down ground anchors. Through our internal QA systems we offer full engineering design, certification, load testing, high quality screw pile manufacture and installation and reusable building interface connections that will ensure your project runs smoothly and fast.
Through is associate structural engineering consultancy business Foundation Engineering Pty Ltd, Screwpile Australia engineering, drawings, load testing and certification documention is seamless.
Our teams of installers throughout the Pilbara and North West are all "Accredited Screwpile Australia Installers" having conducted our accreditation scheme course. Installers follow strict installation work method statements to ensure installtion complies with the intended engineering design outcomes. Vigerous load testing regimes ensure that nothing is left to chance.
Working on mine site projects for BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, FMG, Chevron, Woodside and the like demands high degrees of safety, competency and administration. At STG we pride ourselves in being able to deliver matching performance and continually strive to exceed those requirement.
