Engineering What I Need

A structures foundations can be a two part design consisting of a sub-foundation and then foundation solution on which the structure is supported.  They are considered one of the most important element in a building's design. Done incorrectly the structure will suffer structural stress and subsequent failure is possible.  Structural stress may be at best minor cracking effecting the asthetics, or be something more serious resulting in structural failure requiring expensive remedial works.

Structures that have a foundation and or a sub-foundation system require careful consideration on the interface between the two.  Design needs to be in accordance with the piling system selected and the most cost effective solution.  Wherever possible you want to avoid engineering redesign during construction as this can cause construction delays.

Overall engineering requirements will depend on appplication, site conditions and complexity.  Engineering disclipines used in assessing a structures foundation design are Geotechnical, Structural and Civil Engineering.  Our associate consultancy firm Foundation Engineering Pty Ltd (FE) provides turnkey foundation solutions where required.  The process is listed below:

Geotechnical

The degree of geotechnical engineering required is site and project specific. We strongly recommend you discuss your preliminary piling and anchoring needs with FE prior to commissioning expensive, comprehensive geotechnical reports. You may still need them, however, we may be able to reduce the amount required thereby saving you condiserable expense. Our services include:

  • Soil Compaction Certificates
  • Penitrometer Testing to 3.0m
  • Electric Friction Cone Testing, Supervision and Analysis for piling design (See Probedrill brochure in Download Section)
  • Pit Excavations, Drilling, Borelogs 
  • Chemical Analysis Soil Sampling

Structural

The degree of structural engineering required is project specific. It is likely FE has previously engineered a solution for your requirements so we strongly recommend you discuss your requirments with us early, as it can reduce your overall costs and project time.

Civil

On sites where deep excavation is required careful consideration needs to be given to issue of adjoining structures, watertables and soil stability.  FE is often consulted by builders and owners who have already started excavation and who now in trouble due to unstable embankments to the excavation.  By consulting FE early you can eliminate unnecessary anxiety and additional future expense.

Steel Fabrication Engineering

Fabrication engineering is part of the Screwpile Australia manufacturing process.  We continually look at better ways of doing projects.  Again early consultation with us is always best policy as we are the piling foundation and anchoring experts.
