Applications

Bridges - Underpasses - Overpasses

Traffic and pedestrian bridge locations are generally designed to control and make the movement of vehicles and people safer.  Load designs for foundations include compression, overturning moment, tension and vehicle impact resulting in horizontal loads.  The use of screwpiles in these applications is generally limited to bridges, walkways and remedial works where access is limited or restricted. The versatility of screwpile installing machinery and the many screwpile configurations available provide solutions for the most complex of projects.

The type of bridges and applications include:

  • Existing foundation upgrades
  • Existing pile foundation remedial work where access is limited or difficult
  • Bridge abutments subjected to underscour or erosion
  • Bridge abutment soil screw nailing
  • Piling where steep gradients exist such as embankments
  • Piling operations close to existing traffic lanes and rail tracks
  • Where quick piling solutions are required

The upgrading of existing foundations can be done at ground or deck levels.  There is no need to close both traffic lanes. In rail infrastructure work, piling can be done quickly in shutdown period so as not to delay scheduled timetables.
